It can run on both gas and propane be it at home or in an RV. And the 76533 is easy to operate and handle too. These are more than enough reasons to love a portable generator.

The detailed review here will cover everything about the 76533. All its flaws, features and great aspects are discussed in details here.

  • Body

Fresh off the box, you will find a portable generator unit that is a bit robustly built. The 76533 is roughly 31 inches tall in height and about 30 inches wide. That said, the well-constructed frame painted in Champion’s trademark black and yellow colors do give this generator a great look.

The 76533 weighs about 122 lbs. This isn’t a light unit but the weight is reasonable for a generator that has a maximum capacity of 4750 watts.

The ease of moving the generator around is enhanced by a couple of features. Thankfully, the wheel kit comes for free which is great. The tires are never-flat which means it will not puncture or run out of the air. There is a nice folding handle as well. Both these features contribute greatly to move the generator around.

    Power

The 76533 is powered by a 224 cc OHV engine. The generator has different wattage specifications for different kinds of fuel. If you run it on gas, the generator will give you about 4750 surge watts while running wattage is 3800 watts. If you run it on propane, the capacity will come down a bit.

On propane, you will get a starting wattage of 4275 watts and running wattage of 3420 watts.

The capacity of the 76533 is more than enough to take care of essential items like a refrigerator, sump pump, etc. during a power outage along with a few more items too like lights, television or perhaps a small window AC.

You can use this great unit in worksites too to power a couple or more power tools depending on their required wattage. In RVs, the 76533 can be expected to run the usual appliances including a 15,000 BTU air conditioner. This generator has an RV Ready outlet too.

The 76533 has one 120V RV ready outlet of 30 A, one 120V 30 A twist lock outlet for power tools and 2 120V 20 A outlets for household items. Unfortunately, there are no 240V outlets in case you needed them.

The engine does not cause any severe damage to the environment nor does it give off toxic fumes. For this reason, the 76533 is compliant with both Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB). This makes the 76533 eligible for use across all 50 states of USA.

    Run-time

From what we found from research, run-time on gas will be around 8.5 to 9 hours when used at 50% capacity. Using the 76533 at 50% load on propane will give you around 10 hours of runtime when connected to a 20 lb. tank.

The run-time is comparatively lower than what the case is for other models produced by the same company. This is one downside of the 76533.

To fill up the 76533 entirely, you will need 3.4 gallons of gas.

    Sound

The 76533 makes a bit of noise although its nothing major. The generator isn’t as quiet as the Honda generators but then again, it takes only a little sound that is comparable to the noise made by lawnmowers. The noise levels when you are about 23 feet away from the generator was recorded at 68 dBA.

    Performance

The best thing about having a generator like Champion 76533 is that it is really easy to handle and operate which makes life a lot more comfortable. To start this generator you simply have to push a switch and that’s it. This feature is called the Push Electric Start Technology.

There is the traditional cable pulling start option too which is to be used when the battery powering the Push Button start is dead. The battery dies only in rare cases as it keeps charging itself when the generator is running.

And you will love the Intelligauge feature in the Champion generator as well. Basically, in the user panel, you will have the total run-time of the generator displayed for you along with the voltage and frequency. Keeping track of the run-time will help you assess when you need to go for a refill.

The panel is pretty well-laid out and easy to operate even for newbie users. Switching between gas and propane is simple too and needs only a press of the switch. Having two fuel options is great especially when there is a gas crisis because propane is something that is always available in households.

Apart from user comfort, the 76533 stacks up well in terms of security as well. The generator has a low-oil shutoff sensor. This causes the unit to shut down when fuel is nearing an end without causing overheating. The Volt Guard is a great value addition to the generator as well. Whenever an unforeseeable spike or surge in current load occurs, this feature acts as a shield to protect your appliances.

    Pros

    • Easy to move around
    • Good runtime
    • Can be used in any state and across all national parks
    • Push Button Electric Start is very convenient
    • User-friendly panel and easy to operate
    • Stacked with safety features to prevent damages

    Cons

    • A bit loud but nothing too serious though not just as quite as the really expensive Honda generators

     Finally

So that was all about the Champion 76533 from Champion Power Equipment. It is truly a machine that takes care of all essentials during the power outage and keeps them safe along with being very easy to use too. With all the nice aspects around it, the 76533 can be a thoroughly great buy.
